Qualified as a Trade Mark Attorney in 1982. Member of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. Has served on numerous INTA Committees and is currently a member of the INTA Famous and Well Known Marks Subcommittee. Also a member of ECTA. Advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in Ireland, Europe and internationally.

Graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, with a B.A. (Mod) degree in Legal Science. Qualified as a Barrister in 1977. Awarded a Master of Arts degree by Trinity College in 1981. Former President and Member of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. Foreign Member of ITMA. Advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in Ireland, Europe and internationally and also represents clients at both ex parte and inter partes Hearings at the Irish Patents Office.

Denis McCarthy

Graduated from the University of Limerick with a Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Technology, specialising in Materials and Production Engineering. Currently President of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys , Council and Board member of the European Patent Institute , Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents and member of FICPI, AIPPI, UNION & LES. Is also a Director of PAMIA Limited which is a mutual insurance association for Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys practising in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Advises specifically in all fields of engineering, materials science and computer technology. Has a considerable practice and a great deal of experience before the European Patent Office and the Boards of Appeal, including conducting Oral Proceedings at all levels of the European Patent Organisation.

Yvonne McKeown

Graduated in 1978 from Trinity College, Dublin. Awarded a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Trinity College in 1984. Carried out post-graduate research at TNO, Rijswijk, Netherlands, and obtained Postdoctoral fellowships in the field of Biotechnology at Plant Genetic Systems, N.V., Belgium and Department of Zoology, University College, Dublin. Council Member of the European Patent Institute and Member of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, the Copyright Association of Ireland, UNION, LES and AIPPI. Advises specifically in the areas of life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and food industry applications. Has a wide range of experience in patent prosecution and litigation in these and other technical areas. Additionally, advises in the area of design law.

Marie Walsh

Graduated from the University of Limerick in 1987 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Chemistry. Worked in the United Kingdom as a research scientist with Imperial Chemical Industries plc and subsequently, conducted post-graduate research in the Chemistry Department of University College, Cork. Is a European Patent Attorney and a Chartered Patent Attorney. Studied with the Open University Business School and was awarded an MBA from the Open University in 1996. Is also qualified as a Community Trade Mark Attorney. Works in all fields of IP and in particular, patents across all areas of technology. Regularly delivers presentations and provides training seminars and workshops on IP to innovators in SME's and larger companies and in particular to start-up enterprises at Innovation Centres and at Institutes of Technology. Is also a speaker and tutor on the IP Diploma course run by the Law Society of Ireland. Is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys, a Member of the Association of Irish Patent and Trade Mark attorneys and a member of UNION. Is also chairperson of the Open University MBA alumni association in Ireland and is a member of the MBA Association of Ireland.

Triona Walshe
European Patent Attorney.
Graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology and Trinity College, Dublin with a BSc. (Honours) in Applied Science (Physics and Chemistry) in 1996. Subsequently carried out post-graduate research in the Chemistry Department and in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics of Trinity College, Dublin. Is a qualified Irish and European Patent Attorney. Specialises in filing, prosecuting and licensing patents across most areas of technology. Areas of expertise also include management of clients' patent portfolios, preparing and providing infringement opinions, conducting patent infringement litigation, due diligence and the preparation and filing of applications for Registered Designs. Delivers presentations to clients in addition to providing training seminars and workshops on Intellectual Property to start-up ventures at Innovation Centres and Institutes of Technology. Is a member of the Association of Irish Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys, Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) and the European Patent Institute (EPI).

Peter MacLachlan
Trade Mark Attorney.
Graduated from University College, Dublin, with a B.A. degree in Philosophy and Archaeology. Obtained a Diploma in Legal Studies in 1992. Member of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and a Foreign Member of ITMA . Advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in Ireland, Europe and internationally. Gives presentations on trade mark law and practice and has a special interest in assisting start up companies in identifying and protecting their intellectual property rights and delivers tutorials to students preparing to sit the Irish Trade Mark exam. Is a graduate of the Irish Management Institute and is chairperson of the firms marketing committee.

Carla MacLachlan

Graduated from the Accountancy & Business College, Dublin, with a Diploma in Marketing. Member of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys. Advises on all aspects of trade mark law, practice, protection and enforcement in Ireland, Europe and internationally.

Jonathan White
Technical Assistant.
Joined the firm in 2006 following several years with one of the largest firms of Patent Attorneys in New Zealand. Obtained a BSc (Hons) degree in computer science from University College Dublin and a PGDE (Hons) also University College Dublin (2010). Qualified New Zealand and Australian Patent Attorney. Specialises in registering, protecting and licensing patents in the computer, information technology and mechanical engineering fields. Advises corporations, start-up ventures, SME's and individuals throughout Ireland and offshore to assist them in securing valuable international patent portfolios. Has made presentations at international intellectual property conferences and often presents seminars to clients on patent issues. Is also a regular presenter and attendee at trade, export and computer conferences.
